SIX-WEEK BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT SERIES

Are you experiencing grief? Do you feel like no one understands what you are going through? Community VNA Hospice & Palliative Care invites you to a free six-week Grief Series held on consecutive Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8 PM beginning March 14.  Led by trained bereavement counselors, this grief support series offers information and support on the experience of loss and guides participants beginning their journey toward healing. Topics will include: Understanding the Grief Experience, Between Grief and Healing, Helping Yourself Through Grief, Grief and Your Emotions, On the Way to Healing, and Promises to Keep:  Gratitude and Remembrance.  Each session takes place at Community VNA at 10 Emory Street in Attleboro. UNIVERSITY MEDICINE NOW BROWN MEDICINE

University Medicine (UM), a nonprofit primary care, specialty outpatient and sub-specialty medical group practice with over 200 physicians and multiple patient care locations across the state, announces a name change to Brown Medicine, effective February 1 for all UM sites throughout the state. Last year, UM joined five other medical practices affiliated with Brown University’s Warren Alpert Medical School to form Brown Physicians, Inc. (BPI), a physician-led nonprofit federation.  Employing more than 500 doctors, BPI enables a new level of coordination for clinical care, research and teaching in southern New England.  All practices have maintained their status as individual corporations within the BPI organization.

Blood donors are always needed. LYME DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP MEETING DATES FOR 2018

The Bristol County Lyme Disease Support Group meets monthly at Goff Memorial Hall in Reoboth.  The first meeting of 2018 will be held on Thursday, March 8 from 6 to 8 PM. The group provides support and networking opportunities to individuals affected directly and indirectly by Lyme and associated tick borne diseases. A COMMUNITY CONSERVATION ON SUICIDE PREVENTION

Speakers will address issues related to suicide at this community public health forum on Monday, March 19 from 6 to 7:45 PM at Goff Memorial Hall.  Topics will include loss, grief and healing, suicide attempts and recovery, and new, innovative wellness check options and trainings for a variety of impacted people including new resilience based & creativity focused projects for teens. This presentation is a collaboration of the Rehoboth Board of Health, Rehoboth Public Health Nurse, Bristol County Regional Coalition for Suicide Prevention, Community Counseling of Bristol County, Bristol County District Attorney’s Office, and the Greater Attleboro Area Suicide Prevention Coalition. STURDY MEMORIAL WELCOMES NEW

OB/GYN PHYSICIAN

The physicians and staff of Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro and OB/GYN Associates of Attleboro welcome Obstetrician/Gynecologist Physician Dr. James Pate to the staff. Dr. Pate provides women’s health care, including routine testing and treatment, as well as reproductive health, pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. He is board certified in Obstetrics & Gynecology, and received his medical degree from Oregon Health & Science University. He completed his training at University of Minnesota. In addition, he holds professional memberships with the World Professional Association for Transgender Health and the Gay & Lesbian Medical Association, and provides medical and surgical services for gender/sexual minorities. Dr. Pate is now accepting new patients, call 508-222-3200 to schedule an appointment. In addition to providing Primary Care and Ob/Gyn health services, the center offers 24-hour physician call coverage, private family planning and fertility counseling, an on-site laboratory, ultrasound, and minor surgeries.


STURDY MEMORIAL OPENS OUTPATIENT PHARMACY

How many times has this happened to you?  You’ve been treated in the emergency room or had a day surgery procedure and leave the hospital with prescriptions.  Instead of going home, you need to make a trip to a pharmacy and wait, often in pain and discomfort, to have your prescriptions filled.  Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro now offers an outpatient pharmacy open to day surgery patients, those discharged from emergency care, and also the general public. Located on the hospital’s first floor in the Day Surgery area, the pharmacy accepts most insurance plans.  Over-the-counter medications will also be available for purchase. CANCER SUPPORT GROUP

BREATHING CLUB

Upcoming Meeting:  Tuesday, February 27 from 1 to 3 PM in the Sturdy Memorial Hospital auditorium. This support group for people breathing difficulties and pulmonary ailments. Meetings are facilitated by a respiratory therapist. Call the Respiratory Care Dept. at Sturdy for more information at 508-236-7550.


CAREGIVER SUPPORT GROUP

PARKINSON’S DISEASE SUPPORT GROUP

Upcoming Meeting:  Wednesday, March 14 from 10 AM to 12 Noon at Community VNA, 10 Emory Street in Attleboro.  This support group features speakers, mutual support, and camaraderie with some humor thrown in!
