LEARN ABOUT APP FOR ALZHEIMER CAREGIVERS
“There’s an App for That – Using Technology in Alzheimer’s Caregiving” will be the topic of discussion on Tuesday, August 29 from 10 to 11:45 AM at Norwood Adult Day Health Center located at 595 Pleasant Street in Norwood. The center’s caregiver support group meets on the last Tuesday of each month and is free and open to caregivers of all ages. The group offers topics to help people become more confident as caregivers. The staff can also care for your loved one, giving them an opportunity to be with their peers, while you are in the group. Morton Hospital has welcomed two new board certified general surgeons to the medical staff. Dr. Patricia Andrade and Dr. Richard Demopoulos are accepting new patients at their offices in Taunton and Middleboro. A graduate of Brown University School of Medicine, Dr. Andrade completed her residency training in general surgery at Rhode Island Hospital. She has a special interest in breast surgery and laparoscopic surgery. The Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) allows SNAP recipients to make purchases at local farms, now through March 21, 2020. HEALTHY STEPS FOR CANCER PATIENTS
This exercise and movement program for cancer patients is a six-week therapeutic program held on Mondays from 2:30 to 3:30 PM and Thursdays from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. The program combines gentle movements, dance and music to improve overall wellness, range of motion, balance, strength, and endurance, as well as emotional wellbeing and self-image. STRENGTH TRAINING AFTER BREAST CANCER (STRENGTH ABC)
This fee-based program is offered on the first Monday of the month from 2 to 3 PM in the Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab Center. Led by Certified Lymphedema Therapist Nancy Hardy and Exercise Program Coordinator Sherri-Lee Cahill, this gradual weight training program is designed for all breast cancer survivors.Cost for the program is $60.
