The Blanding offers museum passes offering discounted admission for adults and children.  All you need to do is reserve the pass by calling or dropping by. Other passes may be available through other SAILS libraries.

FRIENDS OF THE BLANDING LIBRARY

The Friends of the Library is a registered non-profit organization and volunteer group supporting the work of the Blanding Library. The Friends is a separate organization from the Rehoboth Antiquarian Society, the non-profit that owns and operates Goff Memorial Hall, Blanding Library and Carpenter Museum. Annual dues for membership in the Friends of the Library are:

$10 for family/household

$25 for contributing members

$50 for supporting members

Events at the Library and in Goff Memorial Hall

The Blanding Public Library and Goff Memorial Hall is owned and operated by the Rehoboth Antiquarian Society, a non-profit organization.  Donations to the Rehoboth Antiquarian Society, 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and public charity, are tax deductible to the fullest extent.  Please consider in-kind donations and corporate matching programs.

SUNDAY NIGHT JAMMERS COMMUNITY DANCE

Sunday, October 22 from 6 to 8 in Goff Hall

Live music by the Jammers for contra dance and a variety of international and couple dances such as polkas and waltzes. Free and open to the public. All ages and beginners are welcome. It is not necessary to come with a partner.  Please wear soft-soled shoes. Musicians welcome, so bring your instrument. A potluck precedes the dance at 6 PM. REHOBOTH CONTRA DANCE

Friday, October 27 at 8 PM in Goff Hall

Caller Dave Eisenstadter will lead the dance with live music by Julie Metcalf and Max Newman. Halloween costumes are enjoyed and appreciated, but not required. Beginners of all ages, singles, couples, and families are welcome to attend the dances held at Goff Memorial Hall from 8 to 11 PM. Partners not necessary. Dances will be taught by caller. General admission: $9; $8 for students; $5 for under 16s; $20 for families with children under 16; $5 for latecomers.  Home-made tasty treats for the break are always appreciated. BLANDING BOOK CLUB

The book choice for November is Flight of the Sparrow by Amy Brown.  This historical novel is based on the life of Mary Rowlandson who was captured by native Americans and struggles to reenter society.  Copies of the book are available at the library.  All are welcome to join this friendly group of readers for a lively discussion.

YOGA FOR FAMILIES CLASS

This free parent-child wellness event is sponsored by the PACE Child Care Works, part of the Child Care Resource and Referral Affiliates of Southeastern Massachusetts. The class offers yoga instruction for parents with children, birth through age 8. Funded in part by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. The Providence Adult String Ensemble will perform in Goff Memorial Hall with a reception to follow the concert.  Admission is a free-will donation with all funds collected going to the Friends of the Blanding Library.
